Pick n Pay adds more delivery time slots to meet demand for online delivery

Pick n Pay anounced that it will be increasing its capacity for online shopping as demand increases during the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To meet demand during the third wave in Gauteng especially, Pick n Pay increased delivery slots on its online platform in the province by 65%.

“We have moved quickly to add delivery slots – particularly in Gauteng – to make sure that we respond to increased demand for online shopping during this time,” Retail Executive of Omnichannel, John Bradshaw, said in a statement.

In addition, Pick n Pay rolled out additional capacity in certain areas in Cape Town and that it will be monitoring demand levels in the rest of the Western Cape and other provinces.

In the last week, PnP’s on-demand platform Bottles also experienced a spike in new registrations.

The retailer also extended its Smart Shopper programme to orders placed through the Bottles App which offers loyalty points on more than 8,000 items at in-store prices.

The inclusion of Smart Shopper points with Pick n Pay's on-demand delivery app completes the retailer's loyalty offering, with the programme now extending across all online channels. The Smart Shopper programme was already integrated with Pick n Pay’s online scheduled delivery service and Click n Collect option.

"Pick n Pay customers have fully embraced the convenience and seamless shopping experience offered by online shopping and we were quick to respond to that demand," explained John Bradshaw.
