LG launches its Velvet 5G smartphone in SA

LG has announced that it's latest Velvet 5G smartphone will be available to purchase in South Africa.

Deon Prinsloo, Mobile General Manager of LG Electronics South Africa, said in a press release: "We’re excited to introduce the LG Velvet 5G to South Africa, not just because it is an exceptional 5G smartphone, but because of the unique value it presents through our new design language,” Deon Prinsloo, Mobile General Manager of LG Electronics South Africa."

“With its new name, LG Velvet 5G promises an unexpected departure for LG Mobile in devices that have a totally revamped look and feel.”

The LG Velvet 5G features a 6.8-inch, 20.5:9 aspect ratio P-OLED Cinematic FullVision curved display including an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The phone also features a triple-lens setup for its main camera. The setup includes a 48MP standard lens, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 5MP depth lens.

The smartphone is powered by a 4300mAh battery, 6GB of RAM and comes with stereo speakers and an LG 3D Sound Engine.

LG notes that the recommended retail price for the LG Velvet 5G starts at R13 499 and contracts will start at R699 per month for 24 months.

The LG Velvet 5G will be available from 1 July through MTN and from 7 July, you can also get the device at Vodacom.

According to LG, the first 500 customers to by the phone through Vodacom will be able to claim an LG Dual Screen accessory and those who buy the phone from MTN will receive an R1200 voucher from Takealot.
