LG launches new device in SA, the LG K61

LG announced that it is introducing a new mid-range phone to South Africa called the LG K61.

“The key value propositions of LG’s K series are advanced technologies and competitive pricing,” said Chang Ma, senior vice president of the product strategy group at LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

“We believe the K series will be the most competitive smartphones in its category offering features consumers really appreciate.”

The device features a 6.53-inch display with a 2340×1080 resolution, with a punch-hole design selfie camera. 

At the rear, the phone sports comes with four cameras: a 48MP primary, an 8MP wide-angle, a 2MP macro and a 5MP depth sensor and the selfie camera is 16MP.

It’s powered by a Mediatek Helio P35 chipset with 4GB of RAM and a choice of 64 or 128GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot.

Other features include a Google Assistant button, a headphone jack, NFC, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB-C port for data and charging.

The LG K61 is powered by a 4000mAh battery and runs on Android 9.0 Pie at launch.

As for the price, the LG K61 will retail in South Africa for R6299.

It’ll be available to purchase from Vodacom from 8 May, and will roll out to Cell C and MTN in the “following weeks”.
