Local media personality Amanda du-Pont launches Lelive, a skincare range in South Africa

Media personality and businesswoman, Amanda du-Pont has announced the launch of her new business venture, a South African produced skincare range called Lelive, made of 95% natural ingredients.

Pronounced leh-lee-veh, the skincare range is vegan, cruelty-free and dermatologist- approved, and is designed to be inclusive of all skin types and genders. Lelive’s name was inspired by Amanda's unofficial Swazi name meaning of the nation or world.

Guzzle Media reached out to Amanda du-Pont to find out more about the new range.

When asked why she decided to start a skincare range, she stated that the journey started with the focus on finding natural products.

"It's my first time creating a skincare range, but my journey into natural products started with my hair and slowly infiltrated re-looking everything I put into my body, including what I eat – so skincare was a natural progression and is something I'm really passionate about because when we started there wasn't a brand out there that was giving me and what the community that we built on social media were wanting, so the only option was to do it ourselves," Du-Pont told Guzzle.

du-Pont enlisted the help of her substantial following on social media in 2020 during the development of the product, “I invited feedback from South Africans of all backgrounds on everything to do with the range, from the packaging to what type of ingredients they would like to see in the products,” says du-Pont.

All ingredients for the lelive range are locally sourced and sustainably packaged with recyclable aluminium.

The full range consists of:

  •  Cleaner Colada: Coconut and pineapple African Oil Cleanser
  •  Jelly Splash: Rooibos and Aloe Jelly Cleanser
  •  All Glow’d Up: Vitamin C, Tumeric and HA Brightening serum
  •  SOS: Peach and Aloe AHA/BHA Exfoliator
  •  Creme de la cream: African Mahogany Everyday Moisturiser
  •  The du-Pont: Shea Butter Lush Moisturizer
  •  All The Shade: Marula Tinted Spf 30 Moisturiser

When asked if the products consist of any alcohol, du-Pont stated that the alcohol found in the products are small amounts that derive from plants.

"We use alcohol in extremely small quantities (less than 0,25% of a product if used at all) and they are cosmos-certified alcohols that are derived from plants", said du-Pont.

Amanda du-Pont told Guzzle that the local launch of the products received a good welcome.

"The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Starting this community a year ago and involving everyone in the process from the beginning has meant that we had a loyal customer base from the day we launched. For skincare, this is fairly unheard of as it normally takes people time to feel confident enough in a brand to test it out and switch out their current routine."

The brand also noted that it will be expanding its product range in the future.

"We will be adding to our range in the near future and have already started developing the next products with our community on social media, as well as our brand ambassadors. And yes, we'll be coming to physical stores very soon!", said du-Pont.

The range is available to purchase at www.leliveafrica.com or via Superbalist. Prices range from R259 to R329.
