Takealot gave away refunds on TV's to customers thanks to the Bokke triumph

Last week SA online retailer Takealot's launched a #backthebucks promotion in partnership with Samsung to offer South Africans the opportunity to win a free TV if the Springboks win the Rugby World Cup.

On Saturday this became a reality as the Springboks won England in the final which caused the retailer to refund around R4 million in total back 346 lucky customers.

The free TVs that were made available for the promotion were:

  • Samsung 49-inch Curved UHD TV (worth R7 499).

  • Samsung 50-inch UHD TV ( worth R8 199).

  • Samsung 55-inch QLED TV ( worth R14 999).

After the Springboks won, Takealot said in a tweet on twitter: "The champs are bringing home gold! Congrats Bokke! As promised, we’re giving 346 shoppers a FULL REFUND on selected Samsung TVs!"

Chief marketing officer Julie-Anne Walsh said in a statement that 346 Takealot customers who bought Samsung TVs as part of their “#backthebucks promotion” would be getting all their money back.

“As part of this promotion, all 346 shoppers who bought selected Samsung TVs within the designated time period, will be refunded the full value of their purchasing price. Just under 400 units across three different Samsung TV sets were made available, and collectively, amounted to R4 million, which will all be refunded to Bok fans.”
