Zero annual price increase in Medirite’s winter flu vaccine

Medirite will be administering flu vaccines for just R109.99 each – a price unchanged from last year, when it offered the cheapest flu vaccine in South Africa among the major pharmacy chains.

It recorded a 17% increase in flu vaccine take-up in 2021 and Medirite expects sustained interest for 2022.

From the second week of March, the pharmacy chain – conveniently located inside Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets – will be among the first to offer flu vaccines for the upcoming winter season.

Lisa Giltrow, the senior pharmacist at Medirite, says the flu vaccine is safe, recommended for all age groups and is the most effective way to prevent infection this season.

“While flu can impact all age groups, some groups and individuals are more at risk than others. In particular, the elderly, pregnant women, children, those with chronic conditions, and health care workers are at increased risk of contracting or being severalty affected by flu,” explains Giltrow.

Medirite is offering the flu vaccine at its 144 pharmacies located across South Africa. All major medical aids are accepted. Customers are encouraged to call their preferred Medirite to make an appointment.
