The Gadget shop closes down due to COVID 19 - report

The Gadget Shop franchise owner Hannes van der Walt,  announced that the store has closed its doors.

The Gadget Shop is a company that focuses on retailing the latest gadgets, gifts, electronics and super-toys.

The Gadget Shop joins a growing list of companies, big and small, that have shut down or entered business rescue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and South Africa’s lockdown regulations for the national state of disaster.

This is according to a report by MyBroadband, which found out after a reader had issues getting a refund on an order after it was cancelled.

Since then, the Gadget Shop’s website displayed the message: “We’re sorry, but we are closed for now.”

Van der Walt himself responded that the customer’s refund was being processed, with an apology from The Gadget Shop for the delay and he responded to MyBroadband’s questions with the news that The Gadget Shop is no more.

Other companies that have had to close up shop or that have entered business rescue include Edcon, Comair, Phumelela Gaming, Flight Centre, Associated Media Publishing and Caxton Magazines.
