Google launches new auto-delete history feature

CAPE TOWN - Google on Wednesday announced a new set-and-forget auto-delete feature that will remove all your personal data after a predetermined period.

According to the company, the aim of the feature is to make it even more simple for a user to manage their data.

Users can access the on/off controls for Location History and Web & App Activity on their Google Account and delete all of that data manually.

Users will choose a time limit for how long they want their activity data to be saved between 3 or 18 months. Data that is older than the selected time period will be automatically deleted from the users account on an ongoing basis.

Google said in a statement: ¨You can already use your Google Account to access simple on/off controls for Location History and Web & App Activity, and if you choose—to delete all or part of that data manually. In addition to these options, we’re announcing auto-delete controls that make it even easier to manage your data. ¨
