Lifestyle products shoppers are spending most of their money on and their favourite catalogue on Guzzle

The retail sector operates around a symbiotic relationship between retailers and consumers. For retailers, it is about proactively responding to the needs of consumers/shoppers to make more sales and increase profit margins. Guzzle, South Africa’s leading catalogue aggregation platform, recently conducted an open quiz with a winning prize. This quiz recorded 2504 entries. Two vital areas of retailing were addressed and provided insights into what retailers must focus on.

On which lifestyle products do shoppers spend most of their money?      

  • Health and wellness productswere an outstanding 41%. This can largely be attributed to the fact that during the Covid era, there has been increased awareness of health and wellness.As a result, it has become a priority for many shoppers.
     
  • Shoppers are still keen to look and feel good even amid tough economic conditions. It’s therefore not surprising that fashion and beauty products came in second at 28%.
     
  • The digital age is here to stay, and most shoppers are catching on to the digital phenomenon or upgrading their gadgets and electronics. During the quiz, gadgets and electronics came in third at 19%.
     
  • Lifestyle products such as furniture, gardening and décor are still highly sought after by shoppers, especially with an increased number of people enjoying their post-lockdown social activities and the need to revamp their living and workspaces. Furniture, gardening and décor recorded 11% in the quiz.  

What’s the shoppers’favourite catalogue on Guzzle?      

A leading print and digital retail catalogue aggregation platform, Guzzle uploads about 1000 to 1100 catalogues each month with various product specials from leading retailers across the country. During pay week alone, approximately 400 catalogues are uploaded to the platform, while 250 to 300 are uploaded during weeks outside this period. It’s therefore not surprising that almost 1 million shoppers use Guzzle to help them plan their monthly shopping, browsing in excess of 10.6 million catalogue pages.
