Bringing back the golden days of 80s and 90s court culture, Reebok is launching the BB 4000 ll Mid, in South Africa on 17 August 2023.

In addition to introducing a mid-cut BB 4000 ll to accompany the low-cut version, the BB 4000 range will include sportswear, apparel, and outerwear. This highly-anticipated release pays homage to the golden days of basketball culture, while encapsulating the spirit of the culture for a new generation.

Back in 1986, Reebok entered the fast-growing basketball space, going head-to-head with strong competition. In a crowded marketplace, making an impact meant going bold.

Recognising the potential to not only influence athletic performance, but also culture, art, and style, Reebok introduced the trailblazing BB series—with the original BB 4000 at the centre.

This month, the BB 4000 ll is back. An iconic shoe reborn for a new generation, this basketball-inspired, street-perfected classic is ready for its next chapter.

Reebok’s design team, in collaboration with consumers and archive specialists, embarked on an introspective journey to the origins of Reebok Basketball to identify a new icon for the brand. Their work led them to the BB 4000 ll—a classic just as relevant today as it was at its inception.

Reminiscent of the days of alley-oops and iconic jump shots, the BB 4000 ll is all about heritage and authenticity. It boasts premium leather overlays across the upper, the iconic Reebok side-stripe and cross-check branding, and a unique split Union Jack tongue logo that nods to the brand's rich 80s heritage.

For enhanced comfort and durability, the BB 4000 II is equipped with an EVA rubber midsole and a durable outsole featuring classic basketball tooling.
