Review: The HONOR 600 Pro is a Battery Titan Disguised as a Familiar Flagship
About a week ago, we laid out our expectations for the HONOR 600 Pro. On paper, it promised to be a disruptive force in the premium smartphone market, boasting a seemingly impossible 7000mAh battery packed into a 7.8mm chassis, a blindingly bright display, and an uncompromising camera system.
Now, after putting it through its paces as our daily driver for work, gaming, and endless social media scrolling, it’s time to separate the marketing hype from real-world performance. In a hyper-competitive South African market where R19,999 places you dangerously close to ultra-premium territory, does the HONOR 600 Pro deliver?
Here is the official Guzzle Media verdict.
Familiar Design, Premium Execution
Let’s address the elephant in the room: the HONOR 600 Pro heavily borrows its design language from Cupertino. Between the flat edges, the polished frame, and the camera plate on the rear, the inspiration is undeniable.
However, whether you love or hate the resemblance, the execution is flawless. The device feels incredibly premium in the hand. Despite housing a massive battery, the 200g weight distribution is excellent, and the ultra-slim 0.98mm bezels give it an edge over almost anything else on the market. Our review unit arrived in a subtle Golden White, but if you want to make a statement, the Orange colourway is the standout choice.
HONOR has also nailed the durability aspect. Earning IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings alongside SGS 5-star drop resistance, this is a phone built for the realities of daily life, not just for looking pretty on a desk.
A Display That Steals the Show
If there is one hardware feature that consistently wowed us, it is the 6.57-inch AMOLED panel.
Boasting a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak HDR brightness of 8000 nits, the display is nothing short of spectacular. Outdoor visibility under the harsh South African sun is effortless. Colours are vibrant without tipping into cartoonish oversaturation, and the eye-comfort features genuinely reduce fatigue during long screen sessions. Whether you are editing documents or binge-watching Netflix, this is an uncompromising, flagship-tier viewing experience.

Unflinching Performance
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, the 600 Pro handles everything you throw at it with ease.
Multitasking is seamless, and demanding mobile games run smoothly without the device overheating. Unless you are stress-testing for a living, you will never hit the performance ceiling on this phone.
The 7000mAh Battery: Believe the Hype
Smartphone battery marketing is famously exaggerated, but the HONOR 600 Pro genuinely delivers.
The 7000mAh battery fundamentally changes how you interact with your device. Battery anxiety simply does not exist here. During heavy testing days filled with navigation, photography, and video streaming, we routinely went to bed with power to spare. For moderate users, this is comfortably a two-day device.
When you do need to plug in, the 80W wired SuperCharge is phenomenally fast, getting you back to full in no time, while the 50W wireless charging offers premium convenience.
Cameras and the "AI" Catch
HONOR equipped the 600 Pro with a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto, and a 50MP ultra-wide.
For the social media era, this camera system is a powerhouse. The main sensor captures vibrant, highly detailed shots in daylight, and the telephoto lens punches well above its weight for zoom clarity. Portrait mode is flattering, and images are consistently ready for Instagram right out of the viewfinder.

However, two things that I picked up on that didn't hit the mark for me:
-
Night Mode Reality: Despite bold claims regarding low-light prowess, the 600 Pro occasionally struggled to expose direct light sources cleanly at night, and astrophotography was trickier than expected.
-
Ultra-Wide Drop-off: The ultra-wide lens is noticeably softer and less colour-accurate than the main and telephoto sensors.
Here are images taken on the device:

The AI Image-to-Video 2.0 Feature: This is a remarkably impressive tool that turns static photos into dynamic, almost cinematic video clips. It’s a brilliant party trick that generates incredible results. However, we must call out the lack of transparency: this is a freemium feature. After a set number of free generations, you have to pay. On a R19,999 device, gating a heavily marketed feature behind a paywall leaves a bitter taste.
MagicOS: Smooth but Searching for Identity
Running MagicOS 10 (based on Android 16), the software is fluid, responsive, and packed with customisation. Yet, the iOS inspiration is heavy, which might alienate Android purists. Furthermore, the inclusion of pre-installed bloatware is unacceptable at this price point and requires immediate cleanup upon unboxing.
Final Verdict
The HONOR 600 Pro is an outstanding smartphone that focuses on what consumers actually care about: a gorgeous screen, dependable performance, solid cameras, and unmatched battery life.
Priced at R19,999 (or around R799 per month on contract), it sits in a very tough spot, going head-to-head with entry-level flagships from Apple and Samsung. However, if you want a device that will effortlessly outlast the competition on a single charge while looking incredibly premium, the HONOR 600 Pro is a top-tier contender.
