Samsung launches new Z fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3

Samsung has announced that it has launched two new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G.

Both devices are premium foldable smartphones built with the craftsmanship and flagship innovations Samsung users have come to love and expect.

For the first time ever on a foldable smartphone, Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 are equipped with IPX8 water resistance, so users no longer have to worry when caught in the rain.

Both devices are also built with our new Armor Aluminium—the strongest aluminium ever used on a Galaxy smartphone—along with the toughest Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus™ to protect against scratches and accidental drops. In addition, both devices include a new protective film made of stretchable PET and optimised display panel layers resulting in the Main Screen that’s 80% more durable than previous devices.

For the first time ever on the Galaxy Z series, Samsung is bringing its beloved Note series technology to Galaxy Z Fold3, the S Pen functionality.

The S Pen for Galaxy Z Fold3 comes in two options: S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro. Both feature a specially engineered retractable Pro tip with force limit technology to protect Galaxy Z Fold3’s Main Screen for peace of mind while using the S Pen.

This is Samsung’s best S Pen experience yet, with even lower latency, 2.8 ms, for true-to-life composition—ensuring that notetaking and sending messages is seamless and intuitive.

The Galaxy Z Fold3

Galaxy Z Fold3 is built with a sleeker, thinner, and lighter design for even better portability than Galaxy Z Fold2. It comes with a choice of three timeless colours: Phantom Black, Phantom Green, and Phantom Silver.

The Z Fold 3 features a 6.2-inch cover display that can be used when the phone is folded.

However, the device has a slightly slimmer and smaller profile. While Samsung has shaved off a few millimeters and decimal points, this also results in a slightly lighter device – with the Fold 3 weighing 11 grams lighter than the Fold 2.

Meanwhile, the inner folding screen (Infinity Flex Display) measures 7.6-inches and supports a 120Hz refresh rate and also features Samsung’s first under-display camera lens – under the phone’s folding display.

Samsung noted that it has also optimized the UI for users to make the most of the foldable experience and extra screen space. The company has also introduced a taskbar that can help users navigate between apps.

The Fold 3 has a Cover display that is 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED (2268 x 832 pixel) and its \ main display 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex Display.

It also features a 5nm 64-bit octa-core processor, powered by a 4400mAh dual battery and features 12GB with 256GB/512GB ?onboard storage.

The Galaxy Z Flip3

The Galaxy Z Flip3 empowers users to express themselves with bold colour options, a sleek design, and premium features. With the choice of four trendy colours—Cream, Green, Lavender, and Phantom Black—plus new stylish ring grips and strap cases that make it even easier to hold and fold the phone, Galaxy Z Flip3 is a device for true self-expression.

The new Z Flip 3 includes a larger, upgraded cover screen with more functionality than its predecessor and comes with a slimmer design than the Z Flip, but the same size display.

In terms of the cover screen, you’re getting a four times larger display with the 1.9-inch screen. This brings additional functionality, such as quick settings, notifications, Samsung Pay, and certain widgets (such as music controls and alarms).

The cover screen also houses the phone’s rear camera – featuring a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP wide-angle lens.

Meanwhile, the front camera, housed in the folding screen, features a 10MP lens.

This 6.7-inch display has been upgraded to a 120Hz refresh rate in the new Z Flip – upgraded from 60Hz in the previous generation.

When you pre-order and purchase during the promotional period, 1 September to 30 September, you can get a complimentary gift that includes Galaxy Buds2, Galaxy Smart Tag and Samsung Care+, valued at R5 200.

This is redeemable off Samsung Members. To redeem Samsung Care+, the user must activate this benefit within 30 days of purchase. Users that pre-order Galaxy Z Fold3 or Z Flip3 will get a year of Samsung Care+ protection.

This free Samsung Care+ plan will provide for a repair in case of accidental screen and/or back cover damage and will include a battery replacement.

You can upgrade to the Samsung Care+ Premium plan at an affordable cost, for additional cover, which includes liquid, motherboard and external casing damage.

For the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, the recommended retail cash price is R21 999. Customers can also choose credit plans for R999 x 24 months or R699 x 36 months.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a recommended cash price of R37 999.

Credit plans will also be available for R1 699 x 24 months, and R1 299 x 36 months.
