Twitter will now block harmful tweets on the platform

Twitter announced that it has released a new feature that will let users know when public figures or a popular accounts infringe the platform’s rules on harmful content.
The social platform will do this via a notification which will appear in the form of a tweet to replace the harmful content.
The message says the following, “The Twitter Rules about abusive behaviour apply to this Tweet. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain available.”
Before the content is removed, the harmful message will first be flagged and then a team at Twitter will manually evaluate it and determine whether it is harmful and should be removed.
This new functionality will only apply to accounts belonging to political figures, the social media platform confirms, along with having at least 100 000 followers and being verified.
