Huawei launches two new laptops, the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro and HUAWEI MateBook D 16 in SA

Huawei announced that its newly launched laptops, the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro and the  HUAWEI MateBook D 16 will be available in South Africa. 

The local launch where the devices were revealed happened at its Xperience Huawei 2022 event in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Let's dive into the specifications of these new devices.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro

 

HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2021 - HUAWEI Global

According to Huawei, the MateBook X Pro is the company's new-paradigm device.

It features a 14.2-inch screen with 3.1K (3120 x 2080) high resolution and 264 PPI with the company’s iconic Real Colour FullView Display and advanced Universal Colour Consistency technology. It also features a new metallic body created out of magnesium made with a micro-arc oxidation coating process and weighs 1.26kg.

Additionally, consumers can switch between a 60 Hz and a 90 Hz refresh rate depending on their needs.

Available in two colours – ink blue and mystic silver,  the MateBook X Pro allows users to connect to other Huawei devices nearby and collaborate between them all.

Once a user has wirelessly connected to their phone, they will be able to see the user interface appear on the laptop screen, to operate it as if the smartphone and laptop are one device.

This flagship device comes with 16 GB LPDDR5 5200 MHz dual-channel high-speed memory and supports up to 1 TB NVMe PCIe SSD (also available in 512 GB) for more an efficient read, storage and compression of large files and smoother switchover across multiple tasks.

Users can access and edit their files, use and manage up to three phone app windows simultaneously, take video or audio calls from their phone through the MateBook and even use the mouse and keyboard to control their smartphone.

The MateBook X Pro is also able to connect to the Huawei MateView GT monitor, so you can view your work on an even larger screen.

The MateBook X Pro’s pressure-sensitive touchpad utilises eight independent piezoelectric ceramic plates for comprehensive vibration feedback. The touchpad responds to taps instantly. Additionally, the device comes with an HD camera on the top narrow bezel, which integrates the AI camera features to support the video effects of beauty and virtual backgrounds.

Users can select and apply video effects by going to the Control Centre at any given time.

Consumers also get a 60Wh (rated capacity) super large battery and a compact 90W charger supporting SuperCharge with the Huawei MateBook X Pro.

The MateBook X Pro also features a quad-mic setup that is placed along the edges. Together, they support voice pick-up from sources up to five meters away.

Not only this but the Huawei MateBook X Pro is also equipped with six speakers. 

The Huawei MateBook D 16

HUAWEI MateBook D 16 AMD – HUAWEI Global

The MateBook D 16 features a 16-inch full-view display screen and has a screen-to-body ratio of 90% and a 16:10 aspect ratio. For the user, they are able to view web pages, charts, data and written documents.

The laptop weighs 1.7kg, comes with the 12th-gen Intel Core H-Series processor and can be configured up to i7-12700H. It offers a TDP of up to 40W, dual-channel RAM and a high-speed solid-state drive.

Huawei notes users can use the standard mode for light tasks and switch to the performance mode when required.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro is available in a Premium Edition in South Africa and retails for R 39 999, while the Huawei Matebook D 16 retails for R25 999.

Both laptops can be purchased from the Huawei online store or at selected retailers, including Vodacom and Incredible Connection.
