Beats enters wireless market with Powerbeats Pro

CAPE TOWN – Beats Electronics, a subsidiary of Apple, founded by music producer Dr Dre and Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine have entered the true-wireless earbuds market by launching the new Powerbeats Pro earbuds.

According to Beats, the new earbuds are designed for a fitness lifestyle and will cost users $249.95 and will be ready to be shipped in May.

Beats redesigned the entire product in the move to a true wireless design and the buds are 23 percent smaller and 17 percent lighter than the regular Powerbeats neck buds.

The company stated that it created the buds to have an earhook design that rests over your outer ear and uses silicone eartips for a more secure fit.

The design is water and sweat resistant and has Apple's latest H1 chip, also found in the second generation AirPods, which enables faster and more stable connection than the previous W1 chip.

This also means that the buds will have a hands-free "Hey Siri" activation.

Each speaker also has physical controls for volume control so that users can use one speaker at a time or both together in stereo.

The Powerbeats Pro features a battery life of 9 hours for music but also comes with a powered case, you can get up to 24 hours combined.

The case charges with a Lightning connector but they come with a Lightning cable, in case you plan to use them with your Android device.

The Powerbeats Pro will be available in four colours: Ivory, Moss, Navy, and Black.
