Google adds new AR feature to Youtube so users can virtually try on make-up

Google announced that it has launched a new Augmented reality tool for YouTube that gives users the ability to try on make-up in tutorial videos.

The company said in a blog post: “Today, we’re introducing AR Beauty Try-On, which lets viewers virtually try on make-up while following along with YouTube creators to get tips, product reviews, and more.”

"M·A·C Cosmetics is the first brand to partner with FameBit to launch an AR Beauty Try-On campaign. Using this new format, brands like M·A·C will be able to tap into YouTube’s vibrant creator community, deploy influencer campaigns to YouTube’s 2 billion monthly active users, and measure their results in real time."

Google is also launching a 3D display format called Swirl, a Display and Video 360 feature that will allow brands to create three-dimensional ads for mobile.

Users will be able to “zoom in and out, rotate a product, or play an animation”, effectively interacting with products in ads.

The new AR and 3D tools will be available for brands at the end of 2019.
