HMD unveils three new Nokia C Series devices at the Mobile World Congress 2022

HMD Global has announced that it will launch three new devices that will form part of its Nokia C series, which aims to deliver affordability to customers worldwide.

The company announced the devices at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC).

"The three new devices epitomise the durability and long-lasting battery life qualities Nokia phones became famous for all those years ago. This, combined with the best of Android software, and security updates cements HMD’s vision for 2022 and beyond – designing Nokia phones that last for longer whilst maintaining excellent build quality," said the company in a statement. 

"Nokia phones have incorporated a beautiful Finnish aesthetic that is also functional. The company is bolstering its successful Nokia C-series range, which was introduced in 2020 and already makes up 16% of total company smartphone sales in the last five years."

The three new devices which will be added to the series include the Nokia C21, C21 Plus, and C2 2nd edition.

HMD notes that it decided to launch the devices due to the success of its affordable smartphones. 

"2021 was a transformational year, resulting in solid revenue growth across the business and today, we are celebrating a profitable new chapter for HMD Global with the release of three new affordable Nokia devices which are not only safe, reliable and durable but ensure as many people as possible can access the latest innovative technology for less," said Florian Seiche, CEO at HMD Global.

Here is a breakdown of the new devices:

Nokia C21 Plus

HMD states that the Nokia C21 Plus is designed for durability and is rigorously tested to achieve sleek style and strength while also delivering on battery life and, most importantly, remaining affordable. 

The smartphone features a 6.5-inch HD+ display and comes with two battery options: 4000mAh and 5050mAh. Depending on the version you choose, users will get between two and three days of battery life.

The device also includes a dual main camera with a 13MP and 2MP lens and a 5MP selfie camera.

Nokia C21 smartphone

Next in the lineup is the Nokia C21, which is the successor to the Nokia C20. It also features a 6.5-inch HD+ display, along with a removable 3000mAh battery.

The phone has an 8MP main camera, with a 5MP selfie camera.

Nokia C2 2nd Edition

The final new C-series device is the Nokia C2 2nd Edition, which according to HMD, was designed to withstand life’s knocks, thanks to a tough inner metal chassis, and premium Nordic craftsmanship, this C-series device has been rigorously tested to ensure it meets high durability standards and delivers a thoughtful and purposeful design at an affordable price point.

It’s the smallest of the new devices, with a 5.7-inch display. The phone features a removable 2400mAh battery, along with a 5MP main camera and a 2MP front camera.

Additionally, HMD stated that the new phones will come with a range of accessories, including over-ear wired and wireless headphones, and truly wireless earbuds offering an easy, hands-free calling experience.

Here is a list:

  • Nokia Go Earbuds 2+ – a truly wireless, clear sound with environmental noise cancellation (ENC) and comfortable fit at ultra-high value, whilst sweat and splash resistance and up to 24 hours of playtime will see users through the longest and rainiest of days.

  • Nokia Headphones (come in wired and wireless versions) – a super lightweight design with soft over-ear cushioning and a foldable arm for extra comfort and convenience, make for a seamless experience whether working or listening to music

Local pricing and availability for the devices are yet to be announced.
