MultiChoice in partnership with MTN launches DStv Internet

MultiChoice announced it has launched its own internet package, DStv Internet, which provides fixed wireless internet plans for customer's homes.

The internet service is meant to provide an alternative to fibre internet, for those who don’t have the necessary infrastructure in their area.

In partnership with MTN, this new service works when customers sign up, get a SIM card and use the Wi-Fi router to connect to a fixed wireless LTE network.

Customers can also choose whether they want to bundle their internet package with their general satellite TV subscription.

The package is available in three options such as 25GB, 110GB, and 220GB. Each plan includes an allocation of both anytime and night-time data.

Pricing is as follows:

  • 25GB anytime and 25GB night data: R299/month
  • 110GB anytime and 110GB night data: R499/month
  • 220GB anytime and 220GB night data: R799/month

MultiChoice notes that the service is only available in areas where fixed LTE coverage is available and it has a coverage map on its website so that potential customers can check if it is available in their area.

Additionally, there is also a lunch special available for the first 20 000 customers, who will receive a free 12-month subscription to the DStv Trusted Home app.

The DStv Trusted Home app, which is available on iOS and Android, offers subscribers protection from online security threats and malicious attacks. It also helps users manage their Wi-Fi network and offers parental control features.

The regular subscription for the app costs R30 per month, which is added to the internet bill for users that opt-in.
